Robert is the senior partner. He
took his law degree at Exeter University. He achieved
first
class
honours
in his
professional exams, and was among the top 2% of candidates
in his year. He took articles with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert
in the City, and has been with J Garrard & Allen
since 1987, when he qualified.
He specialises in large property transactions, notably development sites, options, farms,
landed estates and
substantial private houses. He has wide
experience in mineral extraction agreements and
commercial landlord and tenant. His work also
includes company and business sales.

Brent
Hill

Property
Brent holds a Cambridge Law Degree
and qualified at Simmons & Simmons in the City.
Although offered a career there, Brent opted for the
country life. He joined J Garrard & Allen in 1975.
He was our Senior Partner until deciding to retire from
the position in 2002.
Brent has extensive experience of buying and selling
multi million pound development sites, all forms of
commercial property transactions, and planning. He acted
for National House Builder Wilson Connolly for 25 years,
acquiring building sites on their behalf all over the
country, until they were sold to Taylor Woodrow. He has
recently acted for Taylor Woodrow also, and acts for a
range of our other commercial and developer clients.
Brent is a substantial Property Developer and Investor
in his own right, and comes from a family of builders. He therefore understands the practicalities of the
industry, having run building sites of his own.

Vanessa
Schomberg

Probate /Wills/Tax/Trusts/Elderly Client
Vanessa qualified as a solicitor at De Montfort University,
Leicester, obtaining a post-graduate diploma in law
and a
commendation in her legal practice course. She
became a partner in the firm in 2001.
She
is a member of the specialist Probate section of the
Law Society. She has been with J Garrard & Allen
since 1982, and is much in demand for her wealth-preserving
advice on estate tax planning, wills and trusts.
She
deals with all aspects of probate law, specialising
in high value estates with large share portfolios, businesses
and agricultural property. She also deals with elderly
client issues including Enduring Powers of Attorney
and Court of Protection work.

Paul
Gardener

Civil Litigation & Employment
Paul has a degree in law, politics and history and
obtained a Distinction in the Solicitors' Finals Course.
He was winner of the Law Society prize for outstanding
academic performance in his year. He became a partner
in the firm in 2001.
He specialises in
complicated personal injury, clinical and professional
negligence cases, employment law and general civil
litigation
including contract and commercial disputes. He is a
member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers,
and is a visiting lecturer in advanced litigation
(personal injury),
business law and solicitors' accounts, on the solicitors'
Finals
Course at the University of Central England. Paul is
also a visiting lecturer at the College of Law in
Birmingham.
He is
a full member of the Employment Lawyers Association
and acts for employers and employees on a
wide range of contentious and non-contentious
issues, including the drafting of contracts, Employment Tribunals and drafting/advising on Compromise
Agreements.

Perkins

John
has over 35 years' experience as a solicitor. He took
articles in London with the predecessor of Beachcroft
Wansbroughs. Much of his subsequent professional career
was as senior partner of his own firm.
His
fields of expertise include commercial and residential
landlord and tenant, business sale agreements,
commercial and high value residential property.
He is joint treasurer of
the Olney Chamber of Trade.

Anne
McCallum

Conveyancing
Anne has an honours
degree in law from Southampton University. She
qualified as a solicitor in 1979 and has worked for both
city and rural practices, gaining wide experience.
She specialises primarily
in residential and commercial conveyancing, and has
extensive experience of unregistered titles, first
registrations and the conveyancing side of Court of
Protection work. She enjoys the challenge of complex
conveyancing transactions.
Anne joined J Garrard &
Allen in April 2001, having lived in the area for over
20 years.

Satyanadhan

Richard joined the firm
in 1995, and has since conducted his legal studies
whilst working full time at J Garrard & Allen. He
qualified as a solicitor at the College of Law in
Chester.
Richard works primarily
with Paul Gardener, our litigation partner, and has done
for a number of years. In working with the litigation
partner he has gained wide experience in many aspects of
complex
commercial litigation.
Richard also assists the
other three partners of the firm in substantial value
cases.

Tara Deegan

Family Law
Tara joined J
Garrard & Allen in 2006.
She has an honours
degree in law from the University of Nottingham and
qualified as a Solicitor in 1993. She has held
posts at both a local and national level at the Law
Society. She has practised as a matrimonial lawyer
since then. Her husband is a barrister who also
specialises in matrimonial law.
Tara is also a
qualified mediator and can therefore, if the
circumstances are appropriate, see both parties on a
mediation basis in an attempt to reach an amicable
settlement.
Tara deals with all
aspects of matrimonial law including divorce,
children matters, financial and property disputes,
domestic violence, co habitation disputes and the
Civil Partnership Act. She is an experienced court
advocate and has extensive experience of high net
worth cases.
