Vanessa qualified as a solicitor at De Montfort University, Leicester, obtaining a post-graduate diploma in law and a commendation in her Legal Practice Course. She became a partner in the firm in 2001.

She is a member of the specialist Probate section of the Law Society. She has been with J Garrard & Allen since 1982, and is much in demand for her wealth-preserving advice on estate tax planning, wills and trusts.

She deals with all aspects of probate law, specialising in high value estates with large share portfolios, businesses and agricultural property. She also deals with elderly client issues including Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection work.
